Saab Empowers the State of Georgia’s Trauma Response

Saab in North America has received an order to provide a net centric based command and control solution to the State of Georgia’s Trauma Communication Center. The $890,000 deal to provide an advanced C2 system enabling the real time tracking of trauma cases and medical care availability was signed with the Georgia Tech Research Institute as the contracting party. The new system will be integrated over the next 4 months.

“Georgia is experiencing a crisis due to the lack of sufficient numbers of trauma centers and an organized trauma system.  This fact means anyone of us who is seriously injured may experience an unnecessary and life-threatening risk.”  So states the Georgia Trauma Commission on their website www.georgiatraumacommission.org as the driving force to modernize the States’ trauma response capability.

In competition with other established solution providers, Saab has won the contract to provide the State of Georgia with an advanced C2 solution capability based on Saab’s Paratus™ system and utilizing its TactiCall™ system to integrate existing radio and communication equipment and make them interconnected. Under the terms of the contract Saab will provide the operator stations and associated equipment as well as providing technical support.

The new system from Saab will allow the operator an instant situational picture providing patient data and status, ambulance location and status as well as Hospital and specific medical specialty availability. This will in turn allow trauma cases to be quickly assessed and directed the nearest location with available capability to treat their specific trauma or injury.  The system also has built in growth capability which will allow it to adapt to the future and changing needs of the State.

“Saab is extremely proud to have the opportunity to serve the People and State of Georgia with our advanced technology”, states Saab North America President, Dan-Åke Enstedt. Though we already do a considerable amount of business globally in the civil security area, this contract is significant as it also marks a breakthrough for us in the U.S. Homeland security market”.

With locations across the US, Saab North America provides a broad range of products, services and solutions ranging from military defense to homeland security to customers in the U.S and Canada.
