Aerolitoral Saab 340 performs emergency landing

On September 6th at approximately 11:30 A.M. local time, a Saab 340 aircraft operated by Aerolitoral of Mexico performed an emergency landing onto an open field near Tijuana, Mexico.

The Saab 340B aircraft was on a regular revenue flight from Jaurez to Tijuana when the crew declared an in-flight emergency and was forced to make an emergency landing into an open field approximately 15 miles from the airport in Tijuana.

The aircraft was reported to have 25 passengers and 3 crewmembers on board. No fatalities have been reported. The aircraft is also reported to have sustained damage to the lower fuselage and wings.

The Mexican aviation authorities will perform an investigation as to the cause of the mishap. Representatives of Saab Aircraft AB will be available to assist during the course of the investigation.
