RBS 70 NG VSHORAD system – first time on display in France

Defence and security company Saab proudly presents, for the first time on display in France at Eurostory 2012, the RBS 70 NG VSHORAD system.

Saab’s new RBS 70 NG VSHORAD system with integrated 24/7 all-target capability has been developed for the most demanding air defence combat situations. Its integrated sighting solution, enhanced missile operator aids, unbeatable range and unjammable laser guidance combine to produce a system with world-leading capabilities.

RBS 70 NG was officially launched to the world market in autumn 2011.The product met a monumental attention from media as well as potential customers. The product has been widely recognised worldwide in media, including TV-shows, on-line-publications and trade press.

Successful live firings

The pre-launch market introduction of the RBS 70 NG was done during a live firing demonstration to 17 potential customer nations inSweden. The live demonstration was a total success with 5 perfect hits out of 5 firings against aerial as well as stationary targets in day as well as night time firings. BOLIDE missiles were used for the first two shots and Mk2 missiles for the last three shots.

The RBS 70 system has an impressive track-record on the market. Eighteen countries have procured more than 1,600 RBS 70 systems, including more than 17,000 missiles. The RBS 70 NG with state-of-the-art technology is designed to build on this success, taking the VSHORAD capability to a brand new level of performance
