Saab Training LLC, USA awarded Firm Fixed Price Contract

Saab Training LLC of Orlando, Florida, USA was awarded a ten year Firm Fixed Price Contract using the Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity method for rapid acquisitions, for a series of gunnery and training ranges planned by the US Army Tank Automotive Command. The estimated total value of the range improvement program is in excess of $100 million. Saab is one of six contractors now pre-qualified to compete for each range project.

It opens up significant possibilities to provide the US Army with our wide range of target products in addition to our well established programs in laser simulation and instrumentation," says Jorgen Lindgren, president of Saab Training LLC.

The contract will provide the US Army with the newest generation of targetry for both infantry and armor units and includes communication technology using permanent wired or radio controlled equipment. The ranges will portray and replicate battlefield scenarios combining both audio and visual events with increased detection of hit/misses and enhanced durability.

The targets are produced by Saab Training Systems AB, of Huskvarna, Sweden. Saab has been a leader in target development and manufacturing since 1965. The first armor targets for the US Army were produced by Saab with thousands still in daily use. This newest contract represents a fielding of fifth generation of Saab targets. The second generation was delivered to the US Army in the early 1970’s and is still in wide use throughout the world.
