Saab restructures for increased profitability

Defence and security company Saab is to reduce its headcount by approximately 50 employees within business area Support and Services. The restructuring measures will affect approximately another 50 employees within the business area. The measures affect several sites in Sweden, primarly Östersund, Nyköping and Linköping and are the result of the weaker market situation. This will be done through restructuring and individual programmes.

In connection with the half-year report released on July 19, Saab announced measures would be taken to increase efficiency during 2013. The measures being presented today within business area Support & Services are crucial in order to ensure that Saab achieves its long term targets.

During the year business area Support and Services has experienced lower business volumes. This is the result of lower activity on the defence market and a decline in global defence spending.

“We constantly need to adjust our operations to remain competitive on the global market. When orders are delayed or not realised, we need to act. We now continue to keep a strong focus on our on-going customer obligations,” says Lars-Erik Wige, Head of Saab’s business area Support and Services.

Saab’s business area Support and Services have 1700 employees and offers integrated support solutions to customers within defence, civil security and to civil aircraft operators.

Saab serves the global market with world-leading products, services and solutions ranging from military defence to civil security. Saab has operations and employees on all continents and constantly develops, adopts and improves new technology to meet customers’ changing needs.
