SaabTech gives notice to 70 employees in Stockholm

SaabTech today notified the Regional Employment Board of its plans to give notice to 70 people at its operations in Järfälla, Kista and Uppsala. Most of those affected are development engineers but some administrative staff are also included.

"The reductions are a consequence of reduced workload on the development side," says SaabTech’s President, Björn Erman. "Several of our larger development projects are now moving into the production phase, and they are not being replaced with any major new development commissions.

"From the company’s side we will naturally do everything possible to support the employees who are leaving."

SaabTech reduced its numbers by about 100 people in 2003, and currently has 1700 employees, of whom more than 1300 are in the Stockholm area.

Discussions with the appropriate trades unions have already begun.

Saab is one of the world’s leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defence, aviation and space. The group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capabilities in systems integration.
