Saab Training Systems signs contract with the Ministry of Defense in Austria

  • Saab Training Systems AB in Huskvarna, Sweden, has signed a 63 MSEK contract with the Austrian Ministry of Defense for the supply of Saab laser simulators for army training.
  • The contract includes delivery of a large number of infantry simulators used for Combat Training including the BT47 Small Arms Transmitter and the BT46 Personal Detector Device. The contract was won in international competition after comprehensive trials and evaluations. Delivery will take place in the second half of year 2000.

    Austria has, like most users of the Leopard main battle tank, already selected the BT 46 simulators for gunnery and combat training to be delivered in the second half of this year.

    The BT46 simulators are used, among others, by the Swedish, German, British and US Armed Forces and has become the NATO standard gunnery and combat simulator for tanks and anti-tank weapons.
