Ericsson Saab Avionics secures order for joint defense technology development

Ericsson Saab Avionics has obtained a joint defense forces research and development (R&D) order for work within the electronic warfare (EW) area from the Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) of Sweden. The work will also cover a technology demonstrator and participation in test operations.

The order, for this initial phase, is worth SEK 60 M (USD 7.2 M)

The main purpose of the development work will be to create a technology base for future cost-efficient jammer applications.

The intention is to lay the foundations for development of advanced modular EW systems that meet the armed forces’ future requirements.

Ericsson Saab Avionics AB is owned jointly by Ericsson and Saab and is the principal supplier of electronic systems to the JAS 39 Gripen. Equipment delivered includes the EP-17 display system and the EWS-39 electronic warfare system.
