Saab wins MSEK 620 order for fire control system

Saab Systems has received an order worth MSEK 620 from Land Systems Hägglunds AB. The contract is for the UTAAS Fire Control System for the Dutch Army’s CV9035 Combat Vehicles.

“Our excellent cooperation with Land Systems Hägglunds AB has once again been successful, and I can see major new opportunities on the world market together in the years to come,” says Dan-Åke Enstedt, President of the Saab Systems business unit.

The order encompasses state-of-the-art fire control systems built on 3rd Generation Thales IR systems, as well as upgraded software and datacommunications. The order consolidates Saab’s position as a leading supplier of fire director and fire control systems for tanks and combat vehicles.

UTAAS (Universal Tank and Anti Aircraft System) is a modular fire director and fire control system for tanks and combat vehicles. The system is based on the principle of independent line-of-sight, which means that the gunner can take aim independently of the vehicle’s movements while the fire control system automatically aligns the gun. Saab has over 50 years’ experience of developing and manufacturing advanced optical sights, working with the very latest night vision technology. A total of over 1,000 systems have been sold for the CV90 to Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Finland and the Netherlands.

Saab is one of the world’s leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defense, aviation and space. The Group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration.
