Saab’s share of SPP’s surplus

Saab has today been notified that the Group in total will receive SEK 372 million in surplus funds from SPP.

According to previous information from SPP the amount will be paid in cash to Saab, owing to the fact that Saab during the second half of 1998 amortized part of the pension debt and carried out early retirement to a higher amount. Saab expects to be paid during next year. However, SPP has not in today’s letter stated the date for the payment. Interest will not be received on the amount for the time up to the payment.

Of the amount SEK 349 million will be accounted for as operating income during the third quarter to its nominal amount. SEK 23 million will adjust goodwill related to companies acquired during 1999.

The amount, SEK 349 million, corresponds to SEK 2.36 per share after tax.

Saab is active in the aerospace- and defense industry and supplies advanced products and systems based on sophisticated information technology. The business areas are Military Aerospace, Space, Training Systems, Commercial Aircraft and Combitech.
