Saab has signed a contract regarding RBS15 Mk3 System for Swedish Navy

Saab Bofors Dynamics has signed a contract with FMV (the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) for the supply of the RBS15 Mk3 System to the Visby-class corvettes.

The missile installation is fitted below deck (indoors) in order to maintain the vessels unique stealth characteristics. The missiles will be fired through specially designed hatches and the exhaust plumes are managed in separate canals. Deliveries will start in 2009.

The Swedish Navy has been operating the RBS15 since the 80’s and following the orders from NATO nations Germany and Poland, Sweden is the third country to formalize the procurement of the latest generation missile in the RBS15 family.
