Ericsson Saab Avionics to develop joint defense forces technology

Ericsson Saab Avionics, Sweden, has from the FMV (Defence Materiel Administration) of Sweden obtained a joint defense forces order for a second phase of work within the electronic warfare (EW) area.

The order is worth SEK 49 M (USD 5 M).

The main purpose of the work will be to create a technology base for cost-efficient jammer applications for the joint defense forces. The primary goal is to, within two years, develop two demontrators; one for shipboard and one for airborne applications.

The intention is to lay the foundations for future development of modular EW systems that in an easy and cost-efficient way can be adapted to new threats, new functions and new technology.

Ericsson Saab Avionics AB is owned jointly by Ericsson and Saab and is the principal supplier of electronic systems to the Gripen fourth-generation fighter. For instance, the display and recording system EP-17 and the EW suite EWS 39.
